Blimp Cake

As a reminder, this was a cake for the graduation of a girl getting her masters in architecture. Her brother commissioned the cake and specifically requested it be a blimp. It was Italian cream cake with cream cheese and walnut frosting for filling. Fondant decorations were flavored almond to match the flavors on the inside.

Commission #2: Graduation Cake (Part One)

The second commission that I alluded to a while back is for a graduation cake for early June. It’s for a girl who is finishing up a graduate degree in architecture. Her brother is commissioning the cake, which will ultimately be a surprise for her. When we first spoke, the brother was initially thinking of an architecture themed cake. I immediately started thinking of a cake inspired by blue prints, protractors and t-squares… However, after touching base with him again this week, he shared another idea that is really cool: a cake in the shape of a dirigible, or blimp, in layman’s terms. This could be pretty awesome…
