For my most recent cake commission, a friend of mine asked that I not only make a cake that they intended on giving to a friend of theirs, but that I let them watch the process and teach them how I do it. It made for a pretty fun evening. Some pictures of the cake making process are below as well as the final product.

I made these cupcakes for a small event (25 people or so). They are vanilla cake with vanilla frosting.

As you may or may not have noticed, I have been on a bit of a hiatus this summer. The reason is that I have been preparing for a move to Washington, D.C.

Well, now it’s official. Crazy Amy has moved to Washington, D.C. I’m still working in advertising and doing the cake gig on the side. What this means for all of you who visit the site is that I am now taking orders for cakes in the Washington, D.C. area rather than the New York area. So, I suppose good or bad news depending on who you talk to :)

I am looking forward to getting to know the area and meeting new people, so should be fun and interesting times ahead…

My next commission is a relatively quick turnaround, due at the end of this week. It’s for a little boy’s second birthday. His mom asked for a sheet cake with a Thomas the Tank Engine theme. So, what we decided on is a quarter sheet cake (9″x12″) with the below image drawn on it. It will be a chocolate cake with chocolate filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Should be a very cute cake for a little boy!
